“This is the real secret of life– to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now. And instead of calling it work, realize it is play.” — Alan Wilson Watts
A “now” activity is done for its own sake because the experience is the main goal…..it is in the “here and now” and performed for intrinsic reasons…. These activities are different from being externally driven, where things such as comfort, money, power, or fame are the motivating force.
Those whose life style is focued on “now” activities are more autonomous and independent because they cannot be as easily manipulated with threats or rewards from the outside. At the same time, they are more involved and related with everything around them because they are fully immersed in the Flow of life.
“Forever is composed of nows.” ~Emily Dickinson
“I don’t believe people are looking for the meaning of life as much as they are looking for the experience of being alive.” ~ Joseph Campbell
