Larry,

I agree with your comment...but would like to add that the development of the left brain was the beginning of civilization as we know it particularly in the religious beliefs of the West seen in the Judea/Christian religions...they could be seen as left brain belief systems which may help explain the advances that were made in technical skills within our societies.

It is interesting when the European settlers came to the America, the Native Indians were considered primitive and backward...their "right brain" spirituality was looked upon as ignorant and superstitious...however the Indians had a very poorly developed left brain making them easy victims to the more skillful tools of the occupying settlers...to this day the Native American Indian has difficulty adjusting to our left brain culture and play a very subdued role in our society.

Buddhism and Taoism are also "right brain" religions and cultures which helps explain why the Oriental countries were behind the West in technical development...when the Communist party took over control of China, one of their first steps was to undermine the ancient religions of their country in order to try to catch up with the West.

Perhaps the most significant scientist in the 20th century was Albert Einstein who was essentially a right brain genius...the West now was looking for its long lost "right brain" and our true identity in the natural world.

I see the left-brain dominance in the world as a flaw, or wrong turn, in our collective psychological development. It may have been due to ancient social structures where maintaining a family or cultural identity was necessary. There were probably many reasons: a powerful family, tribe or culture could hold their own against opposing forces. So, it was necessary to pass down values that would bind the individual to their group. This process requires left-brain dominance in order to hold these values within. By binding these values with the correct emotional content, they were held tightly for life. To free oneself of conditioning would weaken the group and likely get one ostracized.

Flash forward to today. The world is still separated by groups and cultures that hold differing psychological content and we are still willing to fight over it. But today, individuals are letting go of this content and finding the freedom of right-brain dominance. There is no penalty for doing so, and it is encouraged by various spiritual/religious philosophies. The world is changing and individuals are finding ways to change course now that survival issues are less critical.
