Without realizing it, most of the time we live within an experience of narrow consciousness…it occurs when our attention is narrowly focused on repetitive thoughts and preoccupations…and our limited focus is usually in the continuous observation and judgement of a personal self…..such attention can feel like “tunnel vision”….however narrow focus can only exist within an imaginary perception of the past and future….once we enter the “here and now” we move into the experience of expanded consciousness.
Society generally encourages us to go into a limited social focus…interestingly, most of the time we are in the mass trance based on consensus reality. We have subconsciously agreed to our cultural perception of reality which we were introduced to during infancy….and we can find the shades of this limited perception vary slightly from culture to culture.
Narrow focus becomes problematic when we are stuck and unable to move into expanded consciousness…there is a role for a narrow focus but we should be able to freely move into contraction and expansion of consciousness depending on our needs.
One of the best way in which we can experience the state of expanded intuition is through a deep involvement in an activity which we are able to lose our self and the sense of time..
