In 1982 a remarkable event took place. At the University of Paris a research team led by physicist Alain Aspect performed what may turn out to be one of the most important experiments of the 20th century.
Aspect and his team discovered that under certain circumstances subatomic particles such as electrons are able to instantaneously communicate with each other regardless of the distance separating them. It doesn’t matter whether they are 10 feet or 10 billion miles apart. Somehow each particle always seems to know what the other is doing. It is referred to as “entanglement” within quantum mechanics theory.
Erwin Schrödinger one of the developers of Quantum Mechanics states “it is one of those events that challenges our classical assumptions of thought.”
It gives us reason to reconsider our assumptions of thought in other fields of endeavor….it raises questions about our psychological concepts of self and subconscious…and suggest it is possible that both our subconsciousness is deeply “entangled”with other persons that influence our life in ways in which we are not aware…Carl Jung described this possibility in his theories of “collective unconscious” and “synchronicity” without having any scientific evidence at that time to support his conclusions.
Another theory of quantum mechanics is the “Butterfly-Effect” described by Paul Erlich in using the example of “The fluttering of a butterfly’s wings can effect climate changes on the other side of the planet”….it raises the question if a psychological disturbance we are experiencing can effect some one’s mind on the other side of the planet?…these new thoughts can undermine our whole concept of who we are.
More importantly it suggest that universal intelligence and our individual intelligence are one and the same …and the naive assumption we are a separate self with a separate thinker becomes nothing more than a fictitious myth… we do need a new understanding that integrates our own intelligence with the intelligence of the Universe.

Nearsightedness allows us to create an illusion of being a separate self with its own expectations and goals…while farsightedness makes us aware of our interrelatedness with the environment and the Universe in a state of flow but with an intelligent movement.
Why? How does our current identity fail us other than that it is apparently near-sighted. What would We gain from such a new identity?
