ISTJ Relationship Compatibility

ISTJ personality types have four defining qualities, namely intuitive, judging, sensing, and thinking. When it comes to relationships though, they may have the deficiency of affection in contrast to the experience of other personality types. However, these relationships are very meaningful to an ISTJ individual. Although they are not so expressive and demonstrative in terms of relationships and dating, they care a lot about honor, keeping promises, loyalty, and responsibility.

Naturally, ISTJ personalities start out relationships conservatively. They aren’t huge fans of major displays of affection as they can sometimes become uncomfortable with it, particularly being in earlier stages of relationships. Moreover, they treat almost each situation with rationality, including romantic endeavors. Likewise, it is not there nature to go after someone whom they feel too much as their polar opposite. They are content to know what their partners expect of them so they can meet their expectations accordingly.

Compatibility for ISTJ personalities matches that of the ESTP (extraverted, sensing, thinking, and perceiving) and ESFP (extraverted, sensing, feeling, and perceiving) personality types. Here is a list of things that you need to understand about ISTJ personality types when it comes to compatibility.

1. It Is Not Wise to Rush the Person

Individuals of this type of personality always take their time to reflect and think through things before they act. This is because they need to set their minds clearly about the things they need to do to avoid any back-tracking, dithering, and committing mistakes. So try to take things easily on them and be careful not to rush before they become ready.

2. It Is Essential to Be Practical

Among the ideals of ISTJ individuals that they live by are factuality and pragmatism. Such qualities are indicated by the ‘sensing’ keyword indicating the priority they give to things that can be sensed as physical reality or facts. Thus, if you want your ISTJ partner to be impressed, you need to do things that rather have concrete explanation. It is the present and the facts that matters most to them.

3. Being Logical for Him or Her

It is the tendency of an ISTJ individual to put his or her head before listening to the heart despite the presence of romance and love. This is not something negative for the partner but they just want to weigh the pros and cons before making decisions and try to become logical. Thus, it is wise to evade tendencies of tantrums, mood swings, and emotional blackmails when dating people of this type of personality. This is because they dislike people who are inconsistent and have hasty conclusions.

4. Try to Be Punctual

Make sure that you avoid being late, as being unpunctual is a sign that you have a chaotic or unplanned life. It will be so out of sync when it comes to priorities or negligent when making commitments.

5. Try to Be Smart

Appearance may be important for ISTJ personality types. So make sure that you groom yourself properly with just the right amount of makeup for girls or exact amount of cologne for guys. Outfits can also bother your ISTJ partner, so avoid colors or designs that can be too revealing. Too much jewelry can also make them uncomfortable, but an expensive timepiece or necklace will do if you really want to wear one.
