Is it possible to move things with your mind?
It is if you have the gift of telekinesis, which is sometimes referred to as “psychokinesis.” This is a psychic ability which allows you to manipulate physical objects without interacting with them physically.
Telekinesis is separated into two different category types.
The first is called Macro-PK, which involves the ability to move things with your mind when you can see them with your eyes.
The second, called Micro-PK, allows for the manipulation of objects on a small scale, such as changing computer code or altering the composition of an atom.
Is Telekinesis Real?
People have claimed the ability to move things with their mind since the early 19th century. Levitation is the ability which is claimed most often by those who say they have telekinesis, though affecting air or metal objects is common as well.
The U.S. government has studied telekinesis for almost a century. They have been unable to find (or so they claim) a single individual with an authentic ability in this area.
There is also no scientific evidence to suggest that the ability to move things with the mind doesn’t exist either. Some cases of telekinesis which have been studied can neither proven or disproven.
Interest in Psychokinesis
Every decade gives us at least one individual which makes people think that telekinesis is possible. In the 1970s, that person was Uri Geller. In the 1980s, it was James Hydrick.
The history of falsehoods and frauds in this area of study are numerous. Most activities that are attributed to psychokinesis can often be duplicated by professional illusionists and magicians.
What is changing is the pursuit of virtual reality technologies. In a VR environment, telekinesis is a mental power that anyone can use to move images that are generated by a console or a computer.
We are interested in psychokinesis because we are still discovering the full extent of what the human mind if capable of doing. If this skill were real, it would give us tremendous advantages in numerous fields, from search and rescue to gardening.
For now, we must settle on a virtual environment or dream of what it would be like to have this ability. In the future, who knows what may be possible as technology continues to advance.
