Retroactive Jealousy OCD

Some people are very emotional about the past, particularly about the previous romantic involvements of their partners. Thus, they often have unwanted and repetitive images and thoughts of their partners being with ex-lovers in the past. Consequently, this is referred to as a retroactive jealousy obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

There is often an intertwining among jealousy, relationships and OCD due to the manifestation of similar symptoms. People suffering from retroactive jealousy OCD often experience confusion of the mind that constantly fling up images or mini movies of their partner together with another person. Sadly, this happens in a seemingly unending repetition.

Challenges in Overcoming Retroactive Jealousy OCD

Upon learning that irrationality of retroactive jealousy OCD, sufferers may only feel even worse about it. In fact, it will become a lot harder to deal with this disorder when a person knows how stupid it is and he or she must not be thinking about it. Thus, it becomes more painful when trying or forcing oneself to quit thinking about it.

Subsequently, it encourages thoughts to gain more power that results to more negative emotions toward the sexual past of the boy or girlfriend. In other words, overcoming this disorder seems to be impossible just by mere thought of the situation.

Dealing with Symptoms of Retroactive Jealousy OCD

It is the condition of the mind that thinks about a randomly hot session that involves your current partner and her or his ex being on an idyllic holiday location somewhere. However, the reality is totally a different story.

Basically, retroactive jealousy OCD is actually the ego seeking to protect itself from a seemingly dangerous situation. Thus, it can be overcome by learning to keep one’s mind as calm as possible.

Why People Have Retroactive Jealousy OCD

There is no quick answer for this type of disorder as it could have stemmed from a lot of environmental and biological factors. A few of these factors may include the following as stated on the list below.

1. Biological Inheritance.
This type of disorder may have already been encoded genetically in the DNA. So it may have resulted in the difficulty of avoiding this type of sickness.

2. Low Self-Esteem.
Distressing and graphic thoughts can be the result of how people think about themselves. At some point, people may have lost confidence in whatever they do which could lead to putting themselves at a critical level of their lives.

3. Sexual Inferiority Issues.
This condition can result because he or she does not feel good enough intimately. Alternatively, he or she felt ashamed due to inferior number of sexual partners.

4. Trust Issues.
Sometimes having difficulty trusting others will lead to this type of disorder. If the partner has some previous relationships, issues involving trust can be so difficult to resist.

5. Bias on the Opposite Sex.
It is sometimes difficult for sufferers to ignore irrational or outdated views of the opposite sex. For this reason, retroactive jealousy OCD comes into place without question.

Dealing with this type of disorder can be very difficult when done all by yourself. There are many groups that can provide sensible solutions to alleviate this condition. Retroactive jealousy OCD can be treated but it should be done by professionals, of course, with the willing participation of the patient.
