David Berkowitz Psychological Profile

Richard David Falco or also famously called as David Richard Berkowitz is known by most people as “The Son of Sam” and 44 Caliber Killer. He was born in June 1, 1953. Actually, he is a serial killer who was imprisoned due to the bunch of shooting attack that happened in 1976. He used a 44 caliber bulldog revolver, and this shooting continuously happened for about one year. In this shoot out, there are lots of dead and wounded people who affected by the incident. David escaped in a huge police manhunt and leave shameless letters that contains promises that there will be more murders to exist someday.

The Son of Sam

After that, he was arrested in the New York City by the police who are based there. David was point out again in the eight shooting accidents. It is true that he confessed to entire police and people who witnessed it that he was commended by a demon to kill people. The demon is the one who possessed a dog in their neighborhood. Because of this, the police of the United States thought that David was implicated with a massive number of arson acts in this state.

The First Tragedy

The very first attack that he committed happened in 1975 wherein his victims were two women. He used a sharp knife in attacking the two women during Christmas Eve. Many people knew that only two women were the victims but, they are actually three. Michelle Forman was the women who survived from his attack. She gain lots of wounds and because of that, she was confined in the hospital.

During summer, there are lots of shootings that happened wherein David was involved again. After this, shootings continuously happened and there are lots of people who were affected by it. Innocent, famous, and simple people who live in an average lifestyle gained lots of wounds because of the accident.

Behavioral Problems

According to most psychologists, the killer’s extraordinary behavior is mostly against the media and police gained lots of inspections. Psychologists also discovered that most serial killers gain more satisfaction when they manipulate their observers and pursuers. The control feeling that it provides to the law and media enforcement as well as to all people gives them great social power. After David was assessed by psychiatrists, he was found out suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and neurotic. He also believed that he was one of the people who suffered from demonic possession.

Because of this, many people think that one of the reasons why David committed lots of shoot out is due to his psychological issues. It is true that when you have this condition, you can’t control yourself in doing bad things like crime. This condition really needs immediate treatment in order to avoid it from getting into its severe condition.
