Feeling Indifferent

Feeling indifferent isn’t a lack of feeling. It is a loss of interest in something that was once important to you. It could be a relationship, an activity, or even yourself.

The concept of feeling indifferent is something that is as old as humanity. There is a big difference between loving someone or something and being in love with someone or something.

Love is an action and an emotional response. If one of the two are not present, then the equation leads toward indifference.

How Indifference Tends to Strike

There are four primary reasons why most people begin to start feeling indifferent.

1. There is a problem.
If there are struggles in an important area of life, then indifference to anything else tends to occur until the problem is resolved.

2. There are doubts.
If you’re not sure you love someone, then you’ll likely feel indifferent to them because of that doubt.

3. There have been repeated failures.
You’ve tried to win time and time again, but you keep losing. Eventually, you’ll feel indifferent to the activity because there is no longer any hope that you can win.

4. There are fears.
Anxiety can cause indifferences as well. When someone doesn’t have confidence in themselves, then they stop caring about what happens to them.

How to Stop Feeling Indifferent Starting Today

Here’s some good news: no matter how much indifference may be present, you can still begin turning things around.

It begins by allowing yourself to be flexible. Look for ways to change. Some methods may work. Others may not. Keep trying to embrace the actions and emotions of love.

Work on your confidence as well. When you can begin to trust yourself, then you’ll find that the indifference will begin to melt away.

Some indifference may be caused by a medical issue, such as a mental health disorder. If you’re concerned about this, seek help from a medical professional and develop a beneficial treatment plan.

By understanding who you are and what has happened to you, it becomes possible to find the disconnects in life that can cause feelings of indifference. Don’t allow this feeling to fester. If you’re feeling indifferent about something today, then work on it today. That way, you might be able to see a brighter future.
