Ted Bundy Psychological Diagnosis

Thedore Robert Cowell is the real name of Ted Bundy who was born in the city of Vermont on November 24, 1946. He grew up with his mother and when he reached the age of 3, they moved to Philadelphia with his grandparents. When he reached the age of 4, he decided to move to Washington together with his mother and that was the time that his mother finally met Johnie. He was the new found love of his mother and in 1953, his mother and Johnie got married. In his early age, Ted Bundy really love to play knives but he was intelligent yet very shy. He really admired his grandfather for being violent and abusive with a psychotic manner.

The Story of Ted Bundy

At the age of 7, he encountered behavioral troubles in school but his grades are above the average. In school, he chose to be alone and he never participated in the school activities. When he decided to be a part of the basketball team in their school, he did not make it and this was one of the traumatic experiences that he had. When someone asked him about his childhood days, Ted portrayed it as empty and lonely. He even doesn’t have friends during his high school days and he lacked social skills.

His mother didn’t discuss about his childhood life even any personal matters about his life. In Seattle, in the year of 1974, he committed a murder case with his first victim who was Sharon Clarke. He shattered a rod over the head of Sharon while the girl was sleeping. The girl was unfamiliar person to Ted and they don’t even know the reason behind why he killed Sharon. From March, there were four college students disappeared who were living a few blocks from Sharon’s residence. Ted makes use of his charm and looks to persuade women.

Ted approached some of the young women and asked them to help him and that time, one woman agreed to help him and that woman also disappeared. Most of the victims of Ted were attractive, white and college female students. Ted continued his homicide spree until the year 1974. In November 1974, he tried to catch one woman but fortunately, the woman was able to escape from him.

In the year 1975, Ted began his killing spree in the city of Colorado and by that time several woman were reported missing. Finally, Ted was arrested in 1975 since they found a strand of hair in Ted’s car that matched to one of his victims. There are also witnesses that testified that they saw Ted during that night when that certain event happened. In 1989, Ted admitted that he had 23 murders and this was the reason why he was condemned to death. He died on 1989 as he sat on the electric chair.

Ted has psychopathy wherein it is a personality disorder. Most of the individuals that have this kind of disorder are likeable, charming and spontaneous but they are manipulative and deceitful. This kind of disorder is hard to treat. There are also treatments that are effective to some average criminals. The behavioral therapy is considered as one of the recommending technique to treat anti-social psychological disorder.
